WHO WE ARE

Monoline Text Divider

Las Voces [las voh’-sehs] is Spanish for “The Voices”.

We are a semi-professional chorus of K-12 choral directors, professional performers, and accomplished vocalists throughout Bell County.

Our singers hail from Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton, and Temple.

Our mission:

To elevate the choral arts in Bell County and connect our community with greater fine arts opportunities and education,

through professional artistic excellence and by performing challenging, diverse repertoire with authenticity.

Ashley Carter,

Founder & Artistic Director

Ashley Carter holds her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting and Accompaniment from the Conservatory of Music in Nuremberg, Germany. Since beginning her teaching career in 2011, she spent 7 years assisting and leading high school and middle school choir programs in Killeen ISD.

Her choral piece “Gloria”, SSA(A), was a TMEA Region 8 Middle School Treble Choir auditioned piece for the 2022-2023 school year. Her arrangement of Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho, SATB, premiered in the Las Voces' summer concert in 2023 "The Impossible." Recently, her cantata for choir and strings was commissioned by Christ Episcopal, Temple and premiered this last Christmas. Her most recent sound picture piece for choir and orchestra, “Psalm 19” SATB, premiered this summer at First Methodist, Temple in “Sing a New Psalm.”
